HEALING ACROSS BORDERS
Trauma Recovery for Individuals Impacted by War and Conflict Worldwide
War leaves wounds that are not always visible.
Today, there are more than 55 active armed conflicts worldwide, affecting millions of soldiers, civilians, families, and entire communities. From Ukraine and Russia, to Israel and Palestine, to conflicts in Sudan, Syria, Yemen, Myanmar, Ethiopia, and beyond, the human toll extends far beyond physical injury.
Behind headlines are individuals living with profound psychological trauma: grief, hypervigilance, insomnia, anxiety, depression, and loss of meaning. These wounds affect people on all sides of conflict. They ripple through families, shape communities, and can persist across generations.
At The Mission Within, our focus is trauma, nervous system injury, and human healing. We provide medically supervised psychedelic therapies, ranging from ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT to psilocybin.
We are expanding our humanitarian initiative to support individuals impacted by war and conflict through defined, regionally focused treatment programs, developed in partnership with clinical and research collaborators.
Current Areas of Focus
As part of this broader initiative, The Mission Within is currently supporting trauma recovery programs for individuals impacted by ongoing conflict in the Middle East, starting with Israeli veterans and civilians, and Palestinian civilians and refugees who meet our medical and safety criteria.
Due to current travel and security restrictions, our ability to serve individuals residing in certain territories is limited. We are actively exploring lawful pathways to expand access for displaced civilians where possible.
Program Structure
Due to the medical, logistical, and regulatory complexity of this work, services are delivered through defined treatment cohorts and regionally focused programs.
Participation is determined based on clinical need, travel feasibility, security considerations, and available program capacity.
We are not able to provide open enrollment services at this time. Individuals may apply for future programs as capacity expands.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple and clinically grounded:
To provide rigorous, medically supervised trauma recovery services for individuals suffering from severe PTSD and related conditions resulting from war and conflict.
We believe that stabilizing the nervous system, restoring psychological resilience, and treating trauma at its root is one of the most practical and meaningful contributions to long-term human stability and dignity.
Healing trauma is not only an act of compassion for individuals.
It is an investment in more stable families, communities, and societies.
Who We Serve
This initiative is designed for:
- Veterans and active-duty personnel suffering from combat-related trauma
- Civilians displaced or impacted by violence, loss, or war-related instability
- Refugees and survivors of armed conflict
- Individuals suffering from severe PTSD, depression, traumatic brain injury, or trauma-related conditions
All participants must meet strict medical, psychiatric, legal, and ethical screening criteria.
Participation requires:
- A commitment to non-violence
- No affiliation with active militant or terrorist organizations
- Compliance with applicable laws
- Medical and psychiatric eligibility
- Agreement to our code of conduct
Our work is humanitarian and trauma-focused.
It is not political, ideological, or aligned with any government or faction.
Why This Matters
A soldier in Ukraine, a civilian in Gaza, a refugee from Sudan, or a veteran returning home anywhere in the world may carry very different life stories.
Yet from a neurobiological perspective, trauma can look strikingly similar:
- Persistent hyperarousal
- Intrusive memories
- Emotional numbing
- Sleep disruption
- Anxiety and depression
- Loss of trust, safety, and meaning
Untreated trauma can perpetuate cycles of fear, instability, and suffering.
Treated trauma can restore clarity, emotional regulation, and the capacity for healthy connection and decision-making.
Healing does not erase history.
It restores human functioning and the possibility of a different future.
Our Approach
The Mission Within brings more than two decades of clinical experience treating complex trauma, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and substance use disorders in high-risk populations.
Our model emphasizes:
- Comprehensive medical screening
- Trauma-informed psychiatric evaluation
- Structured preparation
- Medically supervised treatment – cutting-edge psychedelic therapies, ranging from ibogaine and 5-MeO-DMT to psilocybin.
- Post-treatment integration and support
- Long-term outcomes tracking
Safety, ethics, and medical rigor are central to everything we do.
Beyond Treatment
While trauma recovery is essential, our deeper hope is that fewer individuals will need this care in the future.
We support and believe in programs that foster dialogue, mutual understanding, and human connection across divides. Healing trauma and fostering dialogue are complementary efforts, both contributing to more stable families, communities, and societies over time.
A Humanitarian Commitment
We believe that every person suffering from severe trauma deserves access to effective care, regardless of nationality or ethnic background, provided they meet our medical, legal, and ethical screening criteria.
Our commitment is to healing individuals.
Our hope is that healed individuals strengthen families, communities, and the broader human fabric.
Support This Initiative
This work requires medical infrastructure, clinical staff, travel coordination, and scholarship funding for those who cannot afford care.
If you would like to support trauma recovery efforts for individuals impacted by war and conflict worldwide, we welcome your partnership.
Together, we can offer a path toward restoration, one person at a time.
